LEGO Digital Designer was released in 2004 as the LEGO Group’s 3D building tool. While downloaded versions of the LDD application will continue to work, people are encouraged to download BrickLink Studio, import their LDD files, and use Studio for 3D LEGO building files, and use Studio for 3D LEGO building. The LEGO Digital Designer (LDD) website will close on January 31st, after which time LDD will no longer be available for download. BrickLink Studio welcomes LEGO Digital Designer users.īillund, Denmark – January 12th, 2022: Today, the LEGO Group announces that BrickLink Studio will replace LEGO Digital Designer as the official virtual LEGO building software going forward. The LEGO Digital Designer website will shut down at the end of January. LEGO® BrickLink Studio to replace LEGO Digital Designer as the LEGO Group’s official 3D building app As always please use the comments area below to let us know your thoughts on this. It has since gained the moment and fan base to become the World’s leading and most used digital rendering space.įor official details please read the stay below. LDD has been around since 2004 and has had a long reign at the top as the official modelling program to design LEGO sets and ideas with, but now the highly popular BrickLink Studio is taking over.īrickLink created its own brick designing program back in 2014 and has since grown a massive user base and has even supported its now predecessor LDD. In my personal experience 4.3.11 is the best version - definitely not 4.3.12.LEGO have announced that their LEGO Digital Designer Program will be officially replaced by LEGO BrickLink Studio by the end of this month, becoming the new official 3D building app! This botched update certainly did confuse / drive away alot of LDD users and Lego didn't care Get the setupldd-pc -4_3_11.exe version of LDD To make things worse, a simple uninstall of the botched version and re-install of the good 4.3.11 will not help, as the 4.3.12 uninstall will keep files and also messing with the install of the good version.ĭelete this folder also (otherwise a reinstall will not work):Ĭ:\Users\ \AppData\Roaming\LEGO Company\LEGO Digital Designer After intallation it reports 4.3.11, but with a different parts library version. The thing is, its only the installer which is name 4_3_12. Isn't the 4.3.11 version the "bad" one, basically the same as 4.3.10 (which might make more sense to share), but with a failing online check at the beginning?Ĥ.3.12 has a bad parts library and is missing a lot of parts. ![]() ![]() Lego owns high-res models of every part, but can't bother making them available in their own tools? Something that bugs me about Studio btw, and it's the same think with Bricklink, Lego now owns both, and yet it's still the community that maintains models
